Eco-Ride has virtually no abrasiveness on horse hooves compared to sand and stonedust based footing materials.
Western Reining horses need enough grip on an arena surface to provide support for incredibly tight turns and enough slide to allow the horses to perform high level sliding stops. Eco-ride meets the demanding task. There is enough slide on the surface particles which allows the horse to skid effectively and because they do not sink into the surface the joint stress was minimal. The other bonus was there was no risk of friction burns to the heels, a common problem with sand surfaces. When grip was required the surface compresses sufficiently for the particles to bind and hold, this allows the horse to spin with ease.
